Hi Sweet Friends
And Welcome to my first post
Of 2016
Christmas décor has finally all been
Packed and put away for another year
And it's time to start
Cleaning and re~styling the house
Today I started in the Living room
Dust is something that I try not to collect
But there certainly was a lot of it to wash away
I'm not able to get a full width photo of the
Top of the 'Big Black Monster'
But these three give you the idea of what it looks like
With the exception of the quilts
I tried to keep everything light and white
I'm pleased with the top of the area for now
I'm sure spring will bring more changes
But for now ~ it's a good thing
The quilt above was made and gifted to me
By a friend a few days ago
It does have special meaning
Which I may share another time
But for today
It became inspiration to re~style
The opposite side of my LR
I'm am putting myself on a spending freeze
Due to some upcoming changes in my life
So I really had to be creative
And shop my house to find the best pieces
To use in the entry
Pulling in white and bits of blue
Is a challenge for me
But I was surprised at how much I do have
I've had this IKEA Expedit for many years
It has been serving as storage for
My 3 K's toys and books
However, now that they are older
I can start to use it for more display items
I purchased the above art from my friend Melanie
And love how it works with the quilt and theme
I'm not super experienced at styling
So gentle suggestions are always welcome
I'll be heading to my mom's on Sunday
To help her clean and decorate her bedroom
Praying you all have a blessed weekend
I'm hoping to blog more on a regular basis
And definitely looking forward to visiting you
More often!!!
You bless my heart
And keep me headed in the right direction
And in 2016
That is Forward!!
Thank you for stopping by
I am praying for you this week
You restyled so nicely Cindy. It is always so bare when you take down the Christmas and you have made your spaces look great. Love the quilt that was gifted to you. Wishing you much happiness in the new year.

So sweet. What a thoughtful gift. I'm always rearranging. I'm always surprised how something that was for another room works great in other spaces. I hope it is a wonderful year. xoxo Su
ReplyDeleteYour home looks so fresh and pretty for the new year. It's funny how we all seem to love those clean surfaces after the holidays are over.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet visits, Cindy!

I think you did a wonderful job Cindy. Love the quilts. I hate to admit, but I could shop my house and decorate it and probably 2 others. lol! Enjoy your time with your dear mother.

Hi Cindy,
ReplyDeleteLove the art and your vignettes! The most important thing with styling is to do whatever makes your heart sing! If everyone else likes it, that is icing on the cake!!
Have a fabulous New Year!
xo,
Becky
It seems like all the hype for Christmas was over in a poof. I have packed all my Christmas decor and most of it has been hauled to the garage until next year.
ReplyDeleteYour styling of the storage area looks beautiful Cindy! And the top of the black monster looks good too. I cleared my Christmas stuff out and cleaned but things still look bare. Waiting for inspiration to strike. Good thing I don't do this for a living! I'd be broke lol! Have fun decorating with your Mom today! Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteYour new arrangements are lovely, and to go shopping in our own homes is fun. It's great to switch things up, giving us a new perspective.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your Mom and have a great 2016 ~ FlowerLady
Beautiful! I have to keep reminding myself I am on a spending freeze too! I may shop my house a little more! Great ideas!
ReplyDeleteThank you Apryl. I don't have a reply address, so I do hope you see this. I appreciate your sweet visits. I need to shop my home more often as well! Blessings
DeleteDear Cindy, I love your decorating and especially the word Believe!!! Hubby and I are trying to pay off our charge card, so I'm avoiding spending plus after we cleaned our storage area I just gave about 8 very large bags to charity. I sure don't need to be bringing in anything else. Of course, we still charge our gas and groceries. Just trying not to add to debt. We've got some goals in mind for after we pay off what we owe~would love to see whether our goals change or not.
ReplyDeleteSending you warm winter hugs.
Noreen
Believe is a word I use all thru the house. When Landon passed away it was a word I really needed and have kept in sight all these years.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your prayers. You are on my daily prayer list too,
Judy
Cindy, I love your birds. I have a bit of a collection myself. :) Things looks kind of bare without all the Christmas finery, here at our house. The display cubical is really nice. Wishing peace and good health in your new year. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! I like your attitude and I love the look! The black monster actually makes the white pop! Each spot tastefully done. I think it you'll enjoy it! I always shop within my house moving things around constantly. LOVE the quilt! Blessings on you in this new year. It is going to be great in your going on and your coming in!
ReplyDeleteCindy isn't it fun what we find to reimagine and appreciate in other rooms when we shop our house?! Looking lovely.

Lovely, Cindy. As much as I enjoy the last quarter of the year, with all the fun decor and color, I really do love January. January is the "start anew" month....an opportunity for us to set the stage for this brand new year. I think you are well on your way, Cindy, for a great new year.
ReplyDeleteWarm hugs,
Carol
Hi Cindy, your restyle is beautiful. Love how you display all your treasures with the black background of your shelves. Very cozy and inviting. I'm doing the same here. Love January for it's refreshing and restyling. Have a blessed day. xo
ReplyDeleteI like the accessories you've used with your decorating. The blue and white is classic and easily mixes with other items in your home. I shop my house often when I'm making changes to my home too. My only problem is that I tend to keep too much stuff in my basement to enable me to do that! It's time to clean-out again!
ReplyDeleteGood evening, sweet Cindy! Your home looks simply delightful with all of your lovely treasure. I love that you "shopped" your home...you inspired me to look around my home and change things up without spending anything :)
ReplyDeleteMay you have a blessed and beautiful week, dear one. Hugs!
You restyled pretty nicely to me!!!! The accessories look really nice and I love blue and white..just did a winter vignette using my Currier & Ives dinnerware. Your home looks so pretty...
ReplyDeleteYour restyling looks good to me. I'm still developing my styling eye and I'm getting up there in years. I still have my Christmas tree up but not for much longer.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week,
Diana
I think you do just fine, Cindy. Everything looks really pretty and love your stash of quilts. I have that same little lantern? with the bird on top..Happy Wednesday..Judy
ReplyDeleteI'd say your styling abilities are just fine, Cindy. I love how you found so many delightful pieces by just shopping your house. Pretty quilts. The one from your friend has a beautiful message. Enjoy the rest of your week. xo ~ Nancy

Your vignettes of your styling are lovely. I don't think you need any help with your styling...it is all gorgeous! The quilt your friend stitched for you is beautiful. I would be interested in hearing the story of that beauty. Just visiting your lovely blog via Stephanie's Roses of Inspiration...so happy I did.
